A support group is in operation to help insulin diabetics, espically those who have had diabetes more than 20 years.

Summary for September 14, 2000 Meeting
We have many new members who are interested in sharing their lives with diabetes. One common denominator is that we all take insulin to survive. We are all different in the treatment of this disease.
The first speaker was Mike Michaelis with Mini Med. This discussion went into detail about using an insulin pump. Dennis Bush again was kind enough to show his pump and share his experiences with this device. For him, it works wonderfully well.
Our second speaker was Pat Wittbold. She gave an informed talk about nutrition and what it means to us. We all need to work around a balanced meal.. especially those of us who inject insulin.
Refreshments were furnished by Rio Grande Regional Hospital.
Our next meeting will be held at Rio Grande Hospital's Educational/Meeting Room lecated near the cafeteria. It will begin at 6PM on October 19, 2000.
